Research

Data science has a home in all three of the University’s faculties (Science and Engineering; Humanities; Biology, Medicine & Health Sciences). Foundational research on Data Science Analytics is centred in the schools of Computer Science and Mathematics, while across the University we are addressing data-driven research in Health & Biology, Social & Policy, Environment, Urban, Business & Management and the Physical Sciences.

Our new Centre for AI Fundamentals focuses on fundamental AI research.

National Centre for Text Mining


The National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) is the first publicly-funded text mining centre in the world. We provide text mining services in response to the requirements of the UK academic community.
